Global Cereal & Starches Specialist GITEC
Location: Global Headquarters – Leuven, Belgium

Purpose of the Job:
  • To lead challenging projects involving science, research and technology of Cereals and its various products forms (starch, syrups etc),  focusing on corn, rice and other cereals and starches as well as its derived products.
  • Lead and manage  projects of high complexity (technological, multicultural, multi-site) and / or risk, with global scope (multi-functional / co-ordination of activities / development / implementation with different Zones / countries, many times simultaneously), in order to meet or exceed current and future business demands, according to agreed timelines and budget.
  • To continuously scout and identify new ideas / opportunities for AB InBev in the fields of new product,  materials (focusing cereals and starches), aligned with company strategic pillars, IP Strategy, working close together with Procurement, Verticalized Operations, Innovation and other supply areas.
  • Lead Cereals & Starches Knowledge Centers to  ensure that long term Strategies are in place and approved, ensuring that functional global authority experts are developed and present at global with knowledge transfer mechanisms in place towards zone technical functions.
  • The job requires an individual with high leadership skills and demonstrated capability of working effectively through cross-functional and international project teams, as a project leader or as a team member.
  • Able to succeed in a targeted-oriented environment in which priorities, project scope and time schedules will be set and adjusted in order to meet often challenging business demands.
  • Significant global travel required – up to 30%.
  • Act as technical expert for all internal cereal & starches. Create and define / prioritize research and development projects with internal clients, universities, external partners  through definition of project scope, structure, IP Strategy at global / zone level.
  • To identify best practices (internal and external), share and propose ideas, test, implement and standardize them in order to maximize company benefit and variable cost optimization. 
About the candidate:

Education & Experience

  • University technical degree or equivalent (Brewing Science, Food/Cereal Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering, Biology, Agronomy ). M.S and/or Ph. D. strongly recommended.
  • Additional technical brewing education & business oriented qualifications are an asset
  • Training in Six Sigma (Design For Six Sigma, Problem solving and Continuous improvement) is an asset.
  • Experience in brewing, syrup/starch manufacturing and/or cereal equivalent industry.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in research and development projects of high complexity and or high risk profile (product, engineering, material and process feasibility / development / implementation)
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to impact and influence to move things forward, while balancing differing ideas / agendas.
  • Strong team player and target-oriented with respect for quality and timing.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with Intellectual Property matters.
  • Demonstrated high ability to anticipate, support, drive and manage change, being open to innovation by generating new solutions and developing creative approaches.
  • Very good communicator, very good convincing skills, oral and written skills, demonstrated ability to translate technical items into commercial concepts and vice-versa.
  • Able to bridge cultural diversity.
  • Committed to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Fluency in English.   Additional languages are an asset.
  • Clear and detailed understanding of the process flow involved in the ideation / feasibility / development / implementation of new processes, engineering designs, focusing on cereals & starches.
  • Clear and detailed understanding of brewing processes and the implications on the development of new products and processes within the sphere of cereals & starches.
  • Deep knowledge of beverage/cereal/food industries and supply chain other than brewing.
  • Demonstrated ability of multi-dimensional, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability of consumer understanding and capable of extracting technical solutions from commercial needs.
  • Demonstrated strong ability to communicate and negotiate with (internal / external) stakeholders in different areas and levels.
  • Deep knowledge of MS Office environment.
  • Special ability with manipulation and analysis of data in Excel. Knowledge in statistical softwares / tools are an asset.
  • General commercial and financial understanding.
